Overview

The San Diego Zoo is a 100-acre wildlife sanctuary that is home to more than 3,500 animals from over 650 species. Spread across six themed areas, the zoo offers a unique and immersive experience that allows visitors to get up close and personal with animals from around the globe.   • New Zealand Walk-through Aviary: A 30-foot-high aviary with a walk-through tunnel and a variety of New Zealand birds.
  • Tiger Trail: A 3,500-square-foot exhibit featuring Sumatran tigers, Malayan tigers, and Amur leopards.
  • Panda Canyon: A 3.5-acre exhibit featuring giant pandas, red pandas, and a variety of Asian plants and trees.
  • Outback: A 6.5-acre exhibit featuring Australian animals such as kangaroos, koalas, and emus.
  • Elephant Odyssey: A 5-acre exhibit featuring Asian and African elephants, with a 300,000-gallon pool and a 1.5-acre savannah.
  • Polar Play Area: A 1.5-acre exhibit featuring polar bears, penguins, and other Arctic and Antarctic animals.
  • Skyfari Chairlift: A chairlift ride that takes visitors over the zoo, offering panoramic views of the exhibits.
  • Cheetah Run: A 50,000-square-foot exhibit featuring cheetahs, with a viewing area and a chance to see these animals up close.
  • Monkey Trails: A 3.5-acre exhibit featuring primates such as gorillas, orangutans, and monkeys.
